George Washington Was A Surveyor

I’m a great-grandchild of the Revolution.

That’s what you told me.

You told me there'd be days like this.
You must have, right?
Isn't that a thing they say?
None of this feels right.
Hydrogen still fuses in a gravity well 8 light-minutes that way

I watch an osprey circle overhead while I scope the right plot.
Would you believe blue jays were calling from the treetops?

Not yet.

Circling above an empty field.
Turning a widening gyre over grass not yet trodden
Eyes peeled and trained on the first wiggle of grass unbidden by the wind.
Gliding free of effort overhead atop hot air from the teeming phases of material composition below.
I walk below between rows and markers looking for a place to plant my roots.
I dowsed for a spot. 

Walked toward what felt right.

204-2: They’ll even get a deed.

It has a sunset view.
